Special Message From Pastor Wanda Martin

Hello Woman of God. Happy New Year to you. I am so elated to bring you the first S.O.S. Gathering Newsletter of 2018. As a new ministry for women who are in ministry leading from the front, it has always been my desire to birth, share and reach other women in ministry like myself and bring them in close to be encouraged, empowered and strengthened thru fellowship and the Word of God. You may ask why was this something that I had believed God for when it is just another responsibility added to my already busy schedule. Well that question is easy for me to answer. First, I have found that most women serving in ministry, who leads from the front, sometimes feel unappreciated or left out by their mate and/or church and therefore need an empowering place that they can connect to remind them that they play an integral part in ministry and the body of Christ. My desire is for the monthly SOS Gathering to be that empowering place.

Secondly, I have found that almost 80% of women leading from the front by serving in ministry feel unqualified and discouraged about theirnposition due to the expectations they may feel or receive from others or even themselves. This was something that I used to struggle with in our first years of ministry…big-time. I believe that by having this gathering every 4th Saturday, it will provide spiritual encouragement and support, information and monthlyimpartations to encourage and equip women like yourself for ministry and the assignment that God has placed on your life.

Again, Welcome to the SOS Gathering, a place where women in ministry can gather together to connect, empower and strengthen one another as we go forth impacting the Kingdom of God.

Aim Higher,

Pastor Wanda

I went shopping with one of my closest and dearest friends the other day. While looking at shoes in Macy’s, my friend ran into someone she knew and introduced me, “This is my pastor’s wife, Kelley.” You would never introduce a friend as “my banker’s wife” or “my physician’s wife,” so why is the calling to ministry so different? How can we not only feel comfortable with this title, but learn to truly embrace it for the honor that it is?

ARE YOU COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR CALLING?

Here are some helpful steps to help you find fulfillment in your ministry role.
Realize You Are Not Alone

I must admit that I have experienced times of great loneliness in ministry. I feel comfort in knowing that God is in control, but I long for intimate fellowship with other women. A great mentor of mine once told me that we should strive to have three types of friendships in our lives: playmates, peers, and personal confidants.
